2026 Contests

Cosplay Contest Rules/Information: 
  • Contestants must be registered online or at the registration table by 12:00pm, Saturday May 30th. 
  • Those with music/audio they wish to walk to must submit a file or link via email to contests@tremendicon by 12:00pm, Friday May 29th so that it may be tested and approved. 
  • Pre-judging will take place from 2:00 to 3:30pm, Saturday, May 30th in Room 447.
  • Cosplays and walk-out audio must be all-ages appropriate. Organizers reserve the right to reject a contestant they deem inappropriate. If you’re unsure you can email photos to contests@Tremendicon.com before registration ends, or ask at the registration desk.
  • Regardless of contest outcomes, canon debates, ships, or lore-accuracy: contestants are expected to treat each other, the judges, organizers, and guests with respect. If a contestant becomes a problem elsewhere within Tremendicon, they may be disqualified from participating in the contest.
  • Costumes may be purchased or hand-made. 
  • Original Characters (OCs) are allowed, but organizers reserve the right to reject an OC if deemed inappropriate.
  • The 1st place winner from the previous year may not win 2 years in a row, but is welcome to participate in the show for fun, or as a judge. Winners may enter as a regular contestant the 2nd year after a win.
Cosplays will be judged on the following criteria: 
-Construction/Fit
-Props/Accessories
-Make-up/Hair/Wig
-Overall Cohesiveness/Appearance
-Stage Presence/Embodiment of Character

Current Competition Categories: 
Youth and Adult. There will be a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Judge’s Choice in each category. (Based on attendance.)

The 2026 Tremendicon David Faught Memorial Art Contest is accepting unpublished, original pieces. The contest is open to amateur artists ages 14 and up. 
The theme will be: Hidden In Plain Sight
All entries will be judged by a panel of professional artists.
The winning artist will receive a $150 cash prize and will be published in the 2027 convention guide.
Eligibility Criteria:
All the following criteria must be met to be eligible for the 2026 Tremendicon Art Contest: 
  • Entries are due April 26th, 2026, by midnight, Central Standard Time.
  • Art pieces can be of any medium.
  • Entries must be submitted as a 300dpi, jpeg, no bigger than 3300 x 5100 pixels (11”x17”).
  • Entries must be original works by the entrant and not a copy of anyone else’s original or copyrighted materials. In addition, artificially created images are not considered original work and will not be accepted.
  • Entries must not be of any already licensed property.
  • Entries must be appropriate (as deemed by the panel of judges) and not contain sexually explicit, racist, or otherwise inappropriate content.
  • Your art entry must be your own original artwork that you personally created.
  • Entries should not have been previously published in professional media. 
  • It must have been completed after July 2025.
How to Enter: 
  • No entry fee is required.
  • Entries must be submitted via email to contests@Tremendicon.com
  • The subject line should read “Art Contest: Tremendicon 2026– [Insert Artist’s Name}
  • Each entry email must include:
    • The art piece’s title
    • Artist’s legal name
    • Artist’s alias (if applicable)
    • Artist’s email and phone number
    • Medium of art piece
    • The art piece’s creation date (month and year)
    • This phrase, with your name inserted, “I, [Insert Artist’s Name] acknowledge the eligibility criteria of the 2026 Tremendicon David Faught Memorial Art Contest and give Tremendicon permission to display my art piece in the 2027 Tremendicon Convention Guide if it is selected as the winner of this contest.
    • The digital version of the art entry, added as an email attachment. 
Additional Information:
  • Artists are limited to submitting a maximum of three pieces.
  • The decision of the judges will be made without disclosure of the artist’s name. The final choice is entirely their own and binding.
  • The winner will be contacted and informed they have won by May 26th, 2026.
  • The winner will be announced publicly on Sunday, May 31st, during the closing ceremonies. 
  • All rights to submitted pieces remain the property of the artist.
  • Tremendicon will be applying a watermark to the pieces on social media to protect the artists property.

The 2026 Tremendicon Kevin Watkins Memorial Short Story Contest is accepting unpublished, original short stories of fiction.
The contest is open to amateur writers, ages 14 and up. Entries will be judged by a panel of professional writers. The winning author will receive a $150 cash prize and have their short story published in the 2027 Tremendicon convention guide.
Eligibility Criteria:
All the following criteria must be met to be eligible for the 2026 Tremendicon Short Story Contest:
  • Entries are due April 26th, 2026, by midnight, Central Standard Time.
  • Entries must be works of prose, up to 750 words in length.
  • Entries must be original works by the entrant, in English.
    Plagiarism, which includes the use of third-party poetry, song lyrics, characters, or another person’s universe, without written permission, will result in disqualification.
  • Artificially created works will also be disqualified.
  • Entries must be submitted via email, double-spaced, and must include the title and page number on each page, but not the author’s name, so that the stories may be judged anonymously.
  • Entries may not have been previously published in professional media.
  • Entries must be appropriate (as deemed by the panel of judges) and not contain sexually explicit, racist, or otherwise inappropriate content.
How to Enter: 
  • No entry fee is required.

  • The subject line should read “Short Story Contest: Tremendicon 2026 – [Insert Author’s Name]
Each entry email must include:
  • The story’s title.
  • Author’s legal name.
  • Author’s pen name (if applicable).
  • Author’s email and phone number.
  • Word count for the short story submission.
  • This phrase, with your name inserted, “I, [Insert Author’s Name] acknowledge the eligibility criteria of the 2026 Tremendicon Kevin Watkins Memorial Short Story Contest and give Tremendicon permission to print my short story in the 2027 Tremendicon Convention Guide if my short story is selected as the winner of the contest.
  • The short story added as an email attachment or a link to where we can download the story.

  • The decision of the judges will be made without disclosure of the writer’s name. The final choice is entirely their own and binding.
  • The winner will be contacted and informed they have won by May 26th, 2026.
